Conductone

Product Design - Interactive Art

Conductone is a paper MIDI controller made with conductive ink that uses a custom algorithm and a pen plotter to turn any graphics into capacitive knobs

People buying music on a physical support are often in a quest of purchasing music but foremost an object. How could we make this object even more bounded to the music it supports ?

I searched ways to include music on the sleeve of a 45rpm vinyl cover. Using conductive ink and a pen plotter I designed a circuit board-like artwork giving the opportunity to play music with the cover. I connected the cover with a custom made MIDI connector to Arduino and Ableton, the conductive ink makes the cover become a “tactile” MIDI controller.
